BI for IT

  09.03.07

Interactive Use

Interactive searches should enable the user to express parameterised queries to drill into the information and to also automatically follow the relationships in the MDR (e.g. drill across). Results should be available in both text and graphical form and should enable further drilling into the reported entities and drilling across to related entities.  Subject matter experts will require the ability to execute deep analytic capability in interactive mode.

Reporting

Reporting should enable the user to have available all the features of a modern business intelligence application. Given this power, the user should be able to view the MDR as a decision-support tool for IT governance.

The required capabilities must include:

• High-quality visual reports

• Robust distribution capabilities

• Support for novice to power users

• Conditional report formatting which adapts dynamically to data or user

• Drag-and-drop report creation

• Logical layout page control

• Sophisticated out-of-the-box prompting

• Scalability across a large number of users.

An Actionable Enterprise Architecture Platform

BI for IT requires complete visibility into the relationships between IT and the business. Troux’s Actionable Enterprise Architecture Platform (AEA Platform) provides the information management and delivery capabilities necessary to deliver BI for IT. The platform insures that information is used in the right way, structured in the right way, delivered in the right way at the right time.

The AEA Platform has been created to meet the end-to-end information foundation needs of the largest and most sophisticated commercial and government organisations. To that end, the platform is architected to meet the requirements for a complete EA solution. All required components are integrated into a single platform. The platform provides the full set of integrated enabling technologies including:

• Metis Enterprise Repository

• Metis Enterprise Architecture Foundation

• Metis Collection

• Metis Architect

• Metis Team Server

• Web Publisher?

Each of the components architecture is discussed in the following sections
